South Ahan, playfully translating as ‘Southern Food’ was established by husband and wife duo Daovone & Nokie. Both raised in the South since childhood, it was only fitting for the family-run restaurant to name it so.

As second generation Lao, Thai and Vietnamese Americans our family roots spans three southeast Asian countries renowned for putting out world’s great cuisines. We are showcasing Luang Prabang’s exotic and robust dishes of Laos, the North East E-saan region of Thailand for it’s fiery spices, the incredible broths & noodles of southern Vietnam.

Chef Nokie classically and traditionally trained by her mother, a prominent local chef hailing from Luang Prabang, Laos is preserving and sharing her mothers culinary legacy. With over 20 years of hospitality experience Chef Nokie’s  journey led to local Pop-Up events in Nashville and adding a food truck along the way called ‘Laovin It’ which roams Nashville Music City since 2016.
